Artist's Comments

Mixed media on paper, 50 x 70 cm

I made this for a TurinTurambar´s poem: "My Steed":

Trust in my steed shall I
when courage fails
and tide of battle
round me rails
When trumpets sound and arrows fly
Trust in my steed shall I

Trust in my steed shall I
to bite and kick
and carry me
into the thick
of battle's press where men will die
Trust in my steed shall I

Trust in my steed shall I
when threat of death
is near and I
am short of breath
Midst ring of steel through hell we fly
Trust in my steed shall I

Trust in my steed shall I
when through the haze
of blood and sweat
I homeward gaze
Though I am spent he'll be my eyes
And trust in my steed shall I

Wow. The motion and emotion in this- and the way you've managed to "suggest" items and the horse's form- really fantastic. Thanks for sharing.

i absolutely love your drawing style and the fluid and organic way it creates motion even in stillness...i also find it stains your paintings and honestly its an effectively inspiring technique that influenced me to add you to my favorites and further my ability to keep track of your work and its evolution...as an artist myself i offer these comments in respect for the talent and the energy you are manifesting...best of luck in your endeavors

oh damn!

this is a gorgeous drawing! it reminds me very much of the drawings of the Masters.

your mark-making in this piece is so emotive and... alive! and the drawing undoubtedly adds a different dimension to the poem, and vice versa.

great work!

I really like how the rider almost melts into the horse - it brings across the absolute companionship implied in the poem.
