Hello all,

looks like I post with the seasons, though my last entry was over a year ago. Gee, and I´m still not the wiser, what a pity ;-)

I don´t know if it has to do with what happend during the last months (mainly nothing exciting, just all-day-life), but I´ve returned to using light and obviously gay colours, layering them upon my canvasses to achieve a sense of depth. It´s been a while since I´ve actually used anything darker than Paynes Grey (charcoal doesn´t count)and I´m fine with it. It´s a challenge to build up shadows and plasticity with shades of blue, red and whatever else resides on my palette. I also have become accustomed to paint with pigments (mixed with acrylic binder) instead of tube colours, the difference is immense once you´ve seen the brightness of the pigments. Granted, they are rather more expensive, but it´s worth it.

Currently I work with:

Zinc white (PW 4)
Titanium white (PW 6)
Cadmium yellow lemon (PY 35)
Vermilion Red (PR 255)
Ultramarine Blue deep (PB 29)
Indigo (PB 66)
Phtalo Blue (PB 15:3)
Bohemian green earth (PG 23)
Chromium oxide green brilliant (PG 18)
Yellow Ochre (Py 43)
Pozzuoli earth (PR 101)
Caput mortuum deep (PR 101)
Black iron oxide (PBk 11)

All of these are Schmincke colours, but since their quality is very good, they are recommendable.
